To start off 2026 the right way, here’s some photos of a Gordon Smith Galaxy (1st edition) which left the Partington, Manchester GS Workshop in Feb 1985.
I bought this GS Galaxy around 5 or 6 weeks ago but kept hold of it, while I decided what to do with it.
After making my mind up, and leaving it to have some work done, I picked it up yesterday from Martin Gerrard, it’s undergone a complete rewire, new pots etc. It’s also had a pair of Iron Gear Blues Engine pickups fitted, still has its Schaller Tuners and Schaller 455 bridge. There’s a plate on the headstock that’s just decorative, the truss rod adjustment is at the bottom of the neck on the usual position.
The finish of the guitar is a bit odd, it’s got some aged lacquer crazing checking which lots of people love, but I am not really one of them, though at least this is true age related not faked last week ![]()
What do you think ?
